Behaviour Change provides an overview of effective ways to communicate with people who use violence. Drawn from current research and professional expertise, explore ideas about respect, culture, accountability and gender.
Participants learn a practical framework for responding to those who use violence at the societal, community and individual levels. Gain specific strategies for engaging and responding with individuals who use violence.
The course includes:
Participants learn more about Family DOORS (Detection of Overall Risk Screen). The Family DOORS framework helps detect and evaluate risks before they escalate, and tailor an appropriate response.
Upon completion of the course, participants are issued with a Certificate of Completion for AVERT Family Violence: Behaviour Change.
If you are intending to use AVERT Family Violence for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points, please check with your relevant professional body about their CPD guidelines.
This is an intermediate-level course. It is recommended participants complete the AVERT Family Violence Fundamentals and Safety online courses prior to commencing this course. Equivalent training and/or professional work experience will be useful but not essential.
Behaviour Change is a specialised stream in the AVERT Family Violence Training Suite. It is recommended the participants complete the Fundamentals and Safety online courses prior to commencing this course. Another course you may wish to complete Children.
Anyone is welcome to move onto Behaviour Change and Children. These courses are excellent for those who either work with individuals who use violence or with children and young people. However, this knowledge benefits everyone. Those in the health, wellbeing, education, government, police and corrections, community and law sectors will find this content especially helpful.
